2Excel proudly supports women in aviation on International Women’s Day

For many decades, the aviation sector was largely considered as a male bastion, but innovative air services business, 2Excel Aviation, is celebrating the contribution made by its female workforce, and is doing all it can to encourage women into the industry.​

Five years ago, just 13% of 2Excel’s workforce was female. Now at 25%, the number has almost doubled and is growing steadily, not just in disciplines that historically attracted women, such as administration or business support.​

Today (March 8th), on International Women’s Day, the global day to mark the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women, and to reinforce the call to action to accelerate gender parity and inclusivity, 2Excel can count women among its pilots, ​engineers, mechanics, analysts, planners, and technicians.​

Louise Campbell, Group HR Director, said: “If we are truly committed to tackling gender diversity in our industry, we must start early and focus on breaking that bias for women at an earlier age.​

“As our company grows, we are working with local colleges, and those in further education, to offer apprenticeships and advice to help encourage girls to choose STEM subjects with an eye on aviation careers for their future.​

“Clearly, many roles need to be made more accessible for women, and long-term career development opportunities need to be created, and supported, by employers.​

“If society can help the next generation of women believe they can do or be anything they want, we’ll see the number of women employed in aviation in STEM centred roles increase exponentially.”​
