Future engineers flock to apprenticeships open day

We welcomed more than 100 visitors to our 2Excel Apprentice Open Day at Lasham on Wednesday 18th February, and despite the uninspiring weather, the energy across the site was buzzing as aspiring aircraft engineers looked to find out about our apprenticeship programme with a view to applying for our 2026 intake.

Prospective candidates and those seeking more information, as well as some supporting family members had the chance to meet our teams, speak directly with those on already on the programme, and go behind the scenes on guided tours of our facilities.

Mike Irving, 2Excel Lasham’s Training Manager, and head of the apprenticeship programme, said: “The level of interest, curiosity, and enthusiasm from our attendees throughout the day was truly inspiring.

“Undertaking an apprenticeship is making an investment in your own future, and it is our privilege to meet those with an aviation engineering career in mind and hopefully ignite something that will give them skills for a lifetime of opportunity in this amazing industry.

“Apprenticeships play such a vital role in supporting our Company’s long‑term success and capability and, as an engineering and aviation business operating in a highly specialised environment, we rely on a steady pipeline of skilled, motivated people who understand our culture, our standards, and the technical excellence our customers expect. Apprenticeships allow us to build that pipeline from the ground up.

“It was exciting to see the enthusiasm and hear the stories of those looking towards their future careers, and we look forward to supporting the next generation of aviation professionals as we build our 2026 cohort.”

Applications for the 2026 Programme are open until 27th February.
