2Excel celebrates graduating apprentices, powered by mentorship and dedication
2Excel is proud to celebrate the graduation of its latest cohort of engineering apprentices; an achievement that reflects not only their dedication, curiosity, and commitment to excellence, but also the exceptional time, care and expertise invested by mentors and peers across the business at the Company’s Lasham site.
Since launching in 2017, more than 35 apprentices have joined 2Excel’s award-winning programme across Aircraft Engineering, Avionics and Composites, representing around 8% of today’s workforce. The programme continues to deliver strong outcomes, with high completion rates and almost 90% of apprentices remaining with the business after qualifying and progressing into skilled, long-term roles.
In addition to earning whilst learning, apprentices at 2Excel are embedded in live operations from the outset, contributing meaningfully while developing their skills through structured coaching, regular progress reviews, and partnerships with leading training providers. This approach builds not only technical expertise, but also confidence, problem-solving ability and the professional behaviours needed for long-term success.
Jago Carter, Will Finch, Alfie Mecham, Daniel Morgan, Jude Harris, and Thomas Stubbs will now join other full time aircraft engineering professionals at Lasham, where the business delivers service-oriented maintenance to Operators and Owners, Leasing Companies and Governments.

By combining structured learning with hands-on experience, they enable us to build real capability from day one while futureproofing the organisation in an industry facing an ageing workforce and ongoing skills shortages.

“What sets 2Excel apart is the culture that surrounds the programme. The time, patience and generosity shown by colleagues across the business ensures our apprentices don’t just gain technical skills but develop the confidence and mindset to succeed.

Mike Irving, Training Manager, added: “It’s been a pleasure to get to know this group, and understand how they have grown over the past four years. They’ve shown real commitment and resilience, and you can see the difference that makes when they step into responsible roles.
“A big part of that success comes from the environment around them. On the hangar floor, learning is constant, through coaching, practical experience, and the willingness of time-served engineers to invest in explaining, guidance and support.
“That day-to-day input from mentors and peers is what turns potential into capability, and it’s why our apprentices complete the programme ready to make a real contribution.”
