Geospatial Analyst

Sywell Aerodrome, Northamptonshire

2Excel Aviation are looking to appoint a Geospatial Analyst to expand and enhance our existing geospatial capability using open source GIS software and assist in the collection, processing and analysis of remotely sensed data. You will be responsible for leading project field data collection using a range of equipment including dual ASD Field Spectrometers.


We are looking for a candidate with the following essential skill set and experience:

• Background in GIS and/or a physical science;
• Experience in;
o Processing of Geospatial data from raster, vector and tabular datasets;
o Working specifically with earth observation datasets (such as satellite, airborne or UAV)
o Analysis of Geospatial data for environmental applications
• Excellent communication and problem solving skills, with the ability to take ownership of a problem and develop effective solutions.

Additional desirable skills/experience:

• Field work, including GIS mapping
• Experience with field spectroscopy
• Understanding of remote sensing fundamentals
• Image processing
• Knowledge and/or Experience of GIS web mapping
• Knowledge and/or Experience of programming (e.g. python, R, JavaScript, IDL)
• Knowledge and/or Experience of hyperspectral remote sensing
• Knowledge and/or Experience with one or more additional remote sensing techniques e.g. LiDAR, SAR or thermal)
