Katherine Nicoll – Public Relations Officer
Kat was born in Hertfordshire where she was educated at Abbots Hill School before going on to Sixth Form at Uppingham School, Rutland. She read Anthropology at St Andrews University where she got her first taste for flying as part of East of Scotland University Air Squadron based at RAF Leuchars. On graduating from St Andrews with an MA (Hons), Kat spent a brief period doing work experience with The Red Arrows before going on to work for the former Utterly Butterly Wingwalkers in 2005 as their Operations Director. Determined to seek a career in aviation, Kat spent a brief period in London working for a Public Relations Agency before joining The Blades in August 2006.
Maryke Cooper - Administration Support
Maryke was born and educated in Bloemfontein, South Africa, where she matriculated at Greenhill Girls School. After her marriage to Simon they moved to Pretoria where she worked in the retail industry as a Branch Administrator for a national stationery company. In 2002 the family emigrated to the UK and settled in Sharnbrook, Bedfordshire before moving to Rushden, Northamptonshire. Before working for 2 Excel Aviation she worked in the Trade Mark Department for Unilever in Colworth.
Louise Mackintosh – Head of Ground Support
Louise grew up in Dublin and attained a HND in Travel, Tourism and Linguistics (German and French). After College she went to live in Vienna for two years working part time as an au-pair and also as a travel adviser in a busy city centre travel agency. She then moved back to Dublin where she worked briefly doing business travel for a top Irish travel agency before joining British Airways in 1988. Her career with BA has included both promotional work and also extensive customer service training. Louise is currently a Purser working in the Premium and World Traveller cabins whilst working part time leading the Ground hostess team for 2Excel.
Nick Peel – Brooklands Engineering
Nick has been involved with aviation for all his working life. He joined the Royal Air Force in 1976 and after completing his aircraft engineering training spent the next 17 years maintaining a wide variety of military aircraft at various locations around Europe. He saw active service in the Middle East with 14 Squadron Tornados in 1990. He left the RAF in 1993 and was awarded his Civil Aviation Authority Engineering Licence. During the next seven years Nick gained a great deal of experience working for Singapore Airlines based at Changi airport and Mustique Airways in the Caribbean and Europe. The last seven years has seen Nick focus his engineering abilities in General Aviation, maintaining a wide variety of aircraft including over 20 Extra 300L for private and commercial customers. In October 2005 Nick was given the opportunity by Sywell Aviation Ltd to set up and manage a new aircraft maintenance organisation - Brooklands Engineering. He is their Maintenance Manager and is responsible with his engineering team, Bob and Richard, for keeping the Blades 4 Extra EA300LP aircraft airworthy. Find out more.
John Marshall – Chef
John always knew he wanted to be a chef - rather like the pilots always knew they wanted to fly. He trained straight after leaving school at the Royal Naval home of Lord Mountbatten before spending nearly six years cooking on submarines. He then went on to work for a leading hotel chain as Catering Manager before working freelance for some of London's best catering companies. In 1998 he set up The Caterers and now caters for as many as 8000 people a week including corporate events and private functions for the stars. For more information on The Caterers click here.
